NIFA!

For a week in October, Bryant had the opportunity to go to Rangely, Colorado for the NIFA (National Intercollegiate Flight Association) competition. This is a competition of student pilots from across the west region. This was the first time UVU has participated in the NIFA competition. Bryant was super excited about going!

Everyone got a "cool" hat and a couple of polo shirts that say "UVU flight team 2011." These with a pair of black pants was their uniform.

This is the airplane Bryant flew. It was basically his the entire week so he got to hold on to the keys the whole time. Anytime the plane went in the air, he was the one that took it. This is the plane that he has had the most practice in recently and the most practice out of the entire team so he was the only one allowed to fly it. There were two other scesnas there that were shared between all the other pilots. Bryant even got to take one of the judges (or other important people) up for a flight on the last day before heading home.

This is half of the cockpit of the DC that Bryant was flying :)

After arriving in Colorado they all went out for dinner.

Here are the two teachers/coaches.

And here is the team

Everyone filling out their registration paperwork getting super excited about the upcoming events.

Bryant flew home with Sydney in "his plane"

Everyone in the competition from UVU placed in at least one event that they competed in and Bryant placed in all of the events that he competed in! They did not make it to nationals but also didn't expect to. They had lots of fun learning about the competition and were able to secure the chance to host it next October!! If we are still here then, Bryant might get to participate in it again!
