Halloween

Halloween started with with the traditional pumpkin carving. I helped the kids get started by cutting the tops off and letting them scoop. I got to help scoop (of course) so I didn't get any pictures of the kids actually working :P Bryant got home from work in time to create the children's visions for their pumpkins and made the magic happen. Last year our wonderful carving knife broke so it was harder to do small , intricate details but Bryant is still the master!

Brylee with her cat

Tucker with his pumpkin witch

And Hunter with his bat. They were all super excited with how they turned out

Gunnar got to experience play-doh for the first time and seemed to enjoy it :)

We went to a local pumpkin farmer's hay maze. This year he had a larger "cornbox." Much like a sandbox but full of corn kernals. Everyone always has fun playing and jumping in it.

On the back side of the cornbox were these "slides." Tucker had lots of fun going down them, Hunter didn't think there was enough patting at the bottom of the slide so he didn't go down more than once, and Brylee and Gunnar had no interest in trying them out.

Gunnar's favorite thing by far was this wagon! He pushed and pulled it around for at least 20 minutes

This little girl is not Brylee but she was very intrigued by Gunnar's interest.

Eventually, I forced the kids to come and experience the large hay bale maze. It was super basic and short so the kids were easily able to figure it out :)

Gunnar preferred the animals over the large maze and especially the pig

Then we all went to the small hay bale maze. This one is a lot more intricate and can be a bit confusing, even when your tall enough to see over the tops...

...especially when Gunnar finds a hole to crawl through that I didn't dare follow.

And as we were getting ready to leave it was time for the ride on the tractor so we all climbed up and went around the farm once.

Bryant and I took the children trick-or-treating down Center St. We do it this way so that I don't have to go out at night with the kids in the cold and I can give away some of their excessive candy. We were a dinosaur family. Everyone loved their tails and people were always surprised to see them because we made it look like there was no costume from the front.

Even Gunnar loves his tail and often requests to wear it around the house and would not have it taken off to be put in the stroller.

At the ward trunk-or-treat I caught  a little of how Gunnar walks in his tail. He sure is a cutie!

Someone at the ward trunk-or-treat gave out finger lights. They were everyone's highlight...

...and this is the effect on our kid's pumpkins :) Much cooler than candles, if you ask me.
